Hi guys. I used to live in NYC in 2019. Ate my way across the boroughs and one item I keep thinking about all these years later is the Taro Puff from Fayda Bakery. Here's the link: https://fayda.com/products/taro-puff
The problem is, I live in London now and I cannot find anything remotely close to it here. I've had taro tarts, tart ice cream, taro crepes, taro bubble tea, etc. But no taro puff, and I've scoured most of Chinatown over here. It feels super unique to Fayda Bakery. I'm so desperate to try it again I've considered making it myself but it's not really something I've seen any recipes for online either. I almost need something to buy one and fly it over to London to me. Anyway, if you haven't had one, let me live vicariously through you and go try it. If you happen to have a recipe or have any insider info into how it's made please DM me. And if you're flying over to London anytime soon, care to help me satisfy this 5 year craving? 😅

i’ve never had it at FayDa, but i can tell you its not unique to them. I’ve seen it at other Chinese bakeries in NYC.
maybe its your location, but google turned up a few recipes

No specific recommendation but a few Taiwanese bakeries in London definitely have them for mid-autumn festival: you’re looking for Taiwanese/ teochew mooncakes.
Googling this will also bring up recipes
They had these at Golden Gate Cake Shop at some point but they called it “purple yam pastry”.
They may not have them anymore but worth asking next time you’re there.
It’s not unique to Fayda fwiw, it’s common in Taiwanese bakeries. In Taiwan they sell boxed ones too that are pretty much just as good as in the bakeries. In the US you can find boxed ones in Chinese supermarkets but idk if they are any good.
If it’s is helpful when you ask around, the Chinese name for this pastry is 芋頭酥
