Living in Spain is a treat – the warm weather, beautiful beaches, and delicious Spanish cuisine.
However, it doesn’t mean that we can’t miss gastronomy from other cultures, particularly our home cuisine specialities. Thankfully now, in the Costa Blanca South, that issue has become a tad bit easier thanks to Mavi Catering.
Meet Rosie – The Chef Behind Mavi Catering
Mavi Catering is run by Ghozlane Benmansour, but typically goes by Rosie. Rosie is a high-class pastry chef. She learned pastry in the High School of Restauration and Tourism in Oran in Algeria, where she is originally from. Rosie has worked with some of the best chef’s on Côté d’Azur in France, in the Carlton Hotel and in Relais Châteaux.

Now, Rosie lives in the Orihuela Costa and strives to continue her passion of creating delicious pastries. She said that her inspiration is the French pastry and the artistic side of it. “The pastry is the art that gives happiness instantly, just by looking at it. I love the basics of the French pastry, like macarons and the madeleine.”
Fresh Pastries, Local Delivery
Rosie mentioned that for now, they are just delivering in the Orihuela Costa, but over time they will expand to other areas based on popularity. They are also looking into a solution to make people pick up their food directly from Rosie’s bakery, where she does all the cooking.
Mavi Catering has only been up-and-running for two months now, but Rosie is looking forward to continuing her passion and filling the bellies of local clients, who happen to be mostly British, Belgian, and Dutch people.

Rosie said that the French pastry box is the most popularly ordered on the menu – a box with a selection of delicious French pastries and cookies. Other popular services include custom wedding cakes, office breakfast catering, and dessert buffets.
The catering business not only does small, local deliveries of pastry boxes and other goodies, but they also cater weddings, business meetings, private parties, and other types of celebrations.
