Background : About two years ago my firebox broke in half, so I purchased rutland furnace cement. As per the instructions, I glued it, waited 24 hours and then cured it for two hours.
This week the glue failed and it separated exactly where I glued.
So the question is: is there a way to join them without using furnace cement? Maybe something metal like this that will simply hold them together?

I have seen people use wire to keep them together. It’s been a while, but it was a forum thread from a few years ago. They also drilled pilot holes. I would consider a combination of the Rutland and wire.
I don’t recognize that box… but I can say that the OEM Classic 2 box is (was maybe? haven’t looked in a while) less than 45$ shipped from KJ. Assume other fireboxes are similarly priced.

I feel like you can just place them back in the KJ and it should work just fine. Maybe put something behind it in a few slots to keep it tight.
Drill holes and sew it together with wire. I took some romex house wiring and stripped the insulation off it. I would also use the cement again. And I would also wrap some strands around the bowl to help hold it together. After all that I would put it back in there and leave it.
I used fireplace mortar, it comes in a caulk tube and the color fairly matched.
