Nah. They won’t taste like much of anything, or at least the chives don’t.

I’d just buy fresh onions I guess.
Freeze dried vegetables are great if you’re growing your own veggies but I would still buy the fresh veggies if I needed some onion chunks for my soup and wasn’t growing a massive garden.
At the same time, those who buy Harvest Right freeze dryers are doing so to save money as it’s a great alternative to freezing that has more benefits.
Buying 2 onions for $6 at the store a waste imo.

No, wtf?! I could buy KGS and KGS of this with this price.

So, in my experience they’re good and nice to have around to throw in random stuff im making and its always way better than something like onion powder but….they’re expensive and don’t last long if you do end up liking it.
Sometimes you can get lucky and find another brand for far cheaper but variety past Lighthouse is kinda rare.
Trees_are_cool_
Not at that price

wtfrustupidlol
Glad the community backed me up on my decision. I was like this is a nice pic but I’m not buying these at that price.
the-Used224
Ffs?! 6.99 EACH?! Absolutely not, but some red onions and spring onion.
KillerCroc67
No way. You could probably get it fresh and dry it yourself for cheaper and more
CraftyProcrstntr
Why are freeze dried products always so damn expensive?
honesttruth2703
No, fresh is better

Tbh, buy onion, use dicer. Cut onion in thin strip, place on dicer, whack it. repeat.
You can buy actually onions at a 1500% discount, that will include actual flavor
Lord_Humongous768
I would get a container of the onion for emergencies

Those are way overpriced. I’m guessing these were in the produce section. Go to the spice and seasoning aisle for more options, or look online. But the freeze-dried chives are nice to have on hand. To say that fresh chives are better is stating the obvious, but this is about having a fallback option that keeps in the pantry.
I never had much use for the freeze-dried red onions, though, as they’re diced. The one time I picked some up, they had already turned by the time I went to use them. They were stored properly, and it was not a humid climate. The chives were stored the same way, and even the last little bit left in the container was fine.

wtf. Go on Amazon and get restaurant sized containers of onion for 2 more bucks. Badia sells a great one for 7.99
