#recipe #food #cookies

Hey everybody, welcome back to my Bake Like a Pro YouTube channel. In today’s really fun video, we’re going to make some amazing chewy oatmeal cookies. And for my recipe today, I am not using raisins and I’m not using chocolate chips. So, this is just a pure simple oatmeal cookie recipe. 1 and 1/2 cups or 135 g of oldfashioned oats. 2/3 of a cup or 140 g of brown sugar. 3/4 of a cup or 120 gram of all-purpose flour. A half a cup of butter, 113 gram. 1/3 of a cup or 65 g of granulated white sugar. 1 teaspoon or 5 g of vanilla extract. 1 teaspoon or 5 g of salt. Half a teaspoon or 3 g of baking soda. And our last ingredient, one large egg. So those are the ingredients. Let’s get started. To make things a little faster, I’m going to take my salt, get that right into our flour, and also the baking soda. I am using allpurpose flour in my recipe today. Allpurpose flour is the same as plain flour. And then let’s just give that a little bit of a stir. And that’ll just save us a little bit of time. later on in the recipe. This comes together very, very quickly though. Okay, that’s good. For today’s recipe, I am using a brand new stand mixer. This is the Craftsman KM50. If you want to see a full unboxing and a detailed overview of this mixer, I’ll put a link to it down underneath the video in the description box and also in the comment section. So, the first thing I’m going to do, I’m going to get in all of my white granulated sugar and then my brown sugar right in there. And then all of my butter. And my butter is soft. The other thing I want to mention about the butter is that I am using salted butter. So, and you’ll notice in my recipe I have a little bit of extra salt. If you don’t want to use the extra salt, you don’t have to. So, I’m going to close down my mixer. I’ll turn on my mixer by pressing the button here. And then I’ll just turn it on to speed number one. I’m going to get this moving. And what I want to do right now is I want to cream this. So, just by turning this little dial here, it just increases the speed of the mixer. [Music] To make the creaming process a little easier, I’ll just add in my egg. So, I just want to whip this well and I’ll be back in a second. That’s about a good minute of mixing. You can see how nice and fluffy that is. And you can see the color has really gotten a lot lighter. I’m going to add in my vanilla. I like to mix that in because if it gets in contact with the dry flour, you will have little clumps. So, just mix that up a little bit. Okay, that’s good. And then our flour. Get all of that in. And it’s at this point where you don’t want to mix very quickly. Just a nice slow mix. I’m just going on speed number one here. So, this model has a digital display. It’ll show you what speed you’re on. So, it goes from speed 1 to 8. And it also has a little timer that will tell you exactly how long you’ve been mixing. Okay, that’s good. And then our last ingredient. I’m just checking around. Always check your work area to make sure that you haven’t missed any ingredients. And then all of my oats. Just close that down one more time. And just mix until combined. And that is perfect. So, I’ve got my two trays ready to go. I have silicone mats. If you don’t have silicone mats, you can use a nonstick baking tray or you can use a little bit of parchment paper, which is also called baking paper. So, I like to push scoop push up against the sides. That gives you an equal scoop. And then just get that on there. Just like that. So, I’ll finish these off and then I’ll come back. So, I’ve got all my cookies ready to go. What I like to do is I just take the trays and put them into the fridge for about a half an hour. That just chills them enough so that they don’t spread out too much while they’re baking. The other way you can go instead of scooping them out like I did here, you can leave them in your bowl and just put the whole bowl in the fridge. So, it might take about 45 minutes to chill down and then just scoop them out and just toss them right into your oven. So, I’m going to go chill these and then I’m going to bake them about 15 minutes at 350° F, which is 177° C. So, that’s it. I’ll be back in a little while. Hey everybody, I baked my cookies for exactly 15 minutes in my 350°ree oven, which is 177° C. So, I did both trays at the same time. That was the top tray. That was the bottom tray. And they look really amazing. If you don’t chill your dough, they are going to spread a little bit more. So, these six and these two were full scoops. And this was just over a half. You can see it’s slightly baked a little bit more. Anyway, I cannot wait any longer. Let’s go for one. So, check it out. Nicely brown on the bottom. Oh, smells amazing. Let’s just go into this. Look at this. These are completely cool at this point, by the way. It’s the only true way of testing a cookie because the fats have cooled down and then you really know what the texture is like. Look at this. Oh, when I say chewy, I’m I mean chewy. Oh, so so good. I love oatmeal cookies. They don’t have to have chocolate or raisins. They can be plain like this. just amazing. If you like oatmeal cookies that are more on the puffy side, a little bit more dry, I do have recipes also on my Bake Like a Pro channel for that type of cookie. So, that’s it for today. A super fun one. You can see how easy it is to make these. And if you use a smaller scoop, of course, you’re going to get a lot more cookies out of this recipe. So, that’s it.
