What’s up cake lovers? Y’all ever had those friends that call you even on your day off requesting a cake talking about something? I’m going to an event tonight. I need a Jewish apple cake. I’m like, I am not in the kitchen today. You know, we had the nerve to say, but you got a kitchen, don’t you? So, guess what I did? I did what friends do and I made him a Jewish apple cake. I made us, let me say us, a Jewish apple cake. Now, I don’t use canned apple, frozen apple, bagged apples, none of that. I use fresh apples. I sit at that table like granny used to and slice these babies up. It’s kind of therapeutic, too. You can slice them big, you can slice them thin, do whatever you want. Whatever makes you happy. That’s what I want you to do. So, I added some sugar and some cinnamon into it. Flavor up my apples. Stir it all around. And baby, let me tell you, that house was smelling like a apple spice air freshener or something. Now, it’s time for me to get my dry ingredients together. I added my flour, my baking powder, some sugar, and salt. Y’all know if y’all forget the salt, it make your cake taste like a diet cake. I do not like that. Like sugar-free. Your oil. And did you know that orange juice was the secret ingredient for a Jewish apple cake? Mhm. My friend was like, “Well, can you just put some apple juice?” No, I cannot. Imitation vanilla extract. I didn’t have the real one, so I had to double up on it. And now it’s time for me to combine my dry ingredients with my wet ingredients. And the eggs, let’s not forget that. Now, this did call for a lot of eggs. Now, make sure when you incorporate them, you do them one at a time. Try to at least no more than two because it can mess your batter up if they all go in there. Incorporate it very good. And then afterwards, make sure you scrape your bowl because that sugar and that flour will be caked up on the side. And I had already prepped my bun pans with baker’s joy and some flour because if you don’t use flour, the juices from the apples is going to make it stick. Now this is the fun part, the layering. Layer it however you want. I told you whatever makes you happy. You want to do apples first, then do it. If you want to do better first, then do it. It’s completely up to you. Now, I made me a small one just to make sure I still had it, that that taste was there exactly how I wanted it before giving it to somebody else. That house was smelling like the holidays, y’all. Smelled like so much love. I flipped this baby over. She was still cooling, but I couldn’t wait. Just wanted to taste. And when I cut into her, look at all of these apples. First off, look at the steam. I didn’t even realize she was still so hot. Don’t ever eat a cake hot. You won’t stop. Trust me, she tastes so delicious. Cake magic once again.
