Mediterranean Dinner Series visits the Middle East
Connoisseurs of the culinary arts have been on quite a journey this summer and fall in the Iowa Great Lakes.
They may be dining downstairs at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji, but through the flavors of the prepared dishes have been whisked away to a number of countries with one thing in common – their proximity to the Mediterranean Sea.
Hosted by Chef Jay Norton of the Hen House in Spencer – previous countries in the series have included Greece, Morocco and Italy – the culinary experience explores the many unique and distinct flavors packed into a relatively small corner of the world.
And don’t fret if you’ve missed the previous stops as the latest installment – Journey to the Middle East – is sure to expand participants’ flavor profiles in fun ways once again.
The multicourse dinners include a glass of wine and cost $100 for art center members or $110 for nonmembers.
“Chef Jay does similar dinners down at the Hen House and already has slideshows prepared for the different areas, so it’s not just sitting and watching him cook, but we’ll also be learning and discussing things like the health benefits of these types of food,” said Jean Quinn, culinary director at the art center. And there are so many countries with great food in the Mediterranean!”
