Prior to coming here I saw the James Hoffman? Yeah I saw his video about the best budget grinders, and the fellow opus was among the selection, I liked its design and the fact that it has multiple grind settings and it’s relatively quiet.
So I bought a semi new one because 200 dollars is still too much anyways, this was before I discovered this sub.
And yeah, what can I say, the retention is kinda bad, I had to smack it a few times to release it all.
I mean it’s still leagues above a cheap 20 dollar blade grinder, coffee smells so much better like holy shit, it grinds okay for espresso, but is outstanding for moka pot.

I’ll probably keep it, good enough.

Yikes!
Mine is about a year in, terrible retention issues since the start, clean it regularly, and now grind time has basically doubled. Not happy with it at all tbh.
Yeah she needs a few smacks, but is still a great grinder. Hopefully they improve it because you can’t beat its aesthetic
I have the df54. Zero to 0.2 retention. Awesome grinder
Baratza Encore ESP has the same problem. Grinds amazing, but have to smack and use the bellows as well to get the same grams out as in.
