Not surprised. I’ve seen a bunch of plant based meats getting pulled off shelf’s. Maybe it wasn’t as big of a trend s as they thought.

When it started share prices just sky rocketed. Today it is clear that if you sell overpriced sub for meat it will not work in most countries.

With China not buying our crops, how is Beyond Meat struggling to produce an affordable product? They should be thriving right now. This problem is beyond me.
PreperationOuch
It would have helped them if all their products didn’t taste like wet bread mixed with soggy dog food.

Vegetarians typically don’t want realistic fake meat. My wife (vegetarian 30 years) says these are too meat like and not enjoyable. I (a meat eater) find them fine, but not better than the real thing. Especially if it’s a dish where the meat is the focus, these fall flat. Work much better where meat is a complement (lasagna, for instance).

Their burgers are actually pretty damn good. My BIL and his wife are vegan and gave me their leftovers before they headed back to LA. I grilled a few up and was shocked that I could grill them up medium rare and they looked the part on top of tasted it as well. The damn thing even “bled” when I cut it open.

Eh i liked impossible more, it was a great option during lent. I’m not big on seafood so this was a really good option for me. I find as long as you got the season down right it was good. I’ve had it where it wasn’t seasoned and it tasted like garbage.

We already have ways of turning plants into meat, they’re called animals, and they’re delicious.

Why is this in r/meat this isn’t meat
Is this a r/trees and r/marijuanaenthusiasts thing

I like the taste of the Beyond burgers, but it doesn’t seem to be any healthier or cheaper than regular meat. I also suspect that many consumers don’t want to be associated with annoying vegans.

It’s worth pointing out that this company actually had significant revenue. It’s product sold $939 million in 2019 and grew to $3.4 billion in 2024.
It seems like the problem wasn’t the product. The product sold. It seems like a lot of business management problems.
It was also recently a meme stock, which is why everybody’s paying attention to it right now.

Do people really think this is healthy? Jeez

Couple minutes on each side in my nasa hot cast iron with generous amounts of butter and it wasn’t bad.

Yea because it’s crap. If you’re gonna eat meat, eat the real thing or don’t eat it at all. I know many vegetarians that much rather enjoy fresh vegetables over crap like this.
The meme stock crowd will buy even more shares to trigger a short squeeze!

I tried these things on my aunt’s recommendation. She was formerly a pescatarian so she has significant experience on both sides of the fence. So I tried them in good faith because really in a hypothetical world where we can create an identical substitute for meat that would be ideal. It was easily one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten. Awful texture and tasted like plastic fresh off a filthy conveyor belt coated in production residue.

Look at his comment history. Hes obviously shorted their stock, idiot.
