Potato poha cutlet recipe

For 8–10 cutlets:
* Poha (flattened rice) – 1 cup (medium or thick variety)
* Boiled potatoes – 4-5 medium (about 3 cup)
* Green chili – 2-3, finely chopped
* Ginger paste – 1 tsp
* Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, finely chopped
* Red chili powder – ½ tsp
* Chaat masala – 1 tsp
* Salt – to taste
* Cumin powder – 1 tsp
* Oil – for shallow or deep frying

🍽️ Instructions

  1. Prepare Poha
  2. Rinse the poha in a strainer under running water for 10–20 seconds.
  3. Let it rest for 5–7 minutes until soft. Press a flake — it should mash easily.
  4. Drain excess water completely.
  5. Make the Mixture
  6. In a large bowl, combine softened poha, mashed potatoes, green chili, ginger paste, and coriander leaves.
  7. Add red chili powder, cumin powder, chaat masala and salt.
  8. Mix well to form a smooth dough-like mixture.
  9. Shape the Cutlets
  10. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round/ oval/ heart-shaped patties.
  11. Cook (Shallow fry):Heat 2–3 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan. Cook cutlets on medium heat until golden brown and crisp on both sides.

Serve hot with:
* Green chutney
* Tamarind chutney
* Tomato ketchup
