GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — More than 1.4 million people in Michigan rely on SNAP. It’s the nation’s largest food assistance program, and it’s how many families manage to put meals on the table.
The recent pause in SNAP benefits has left many families unsure where their next meal will come from.
Many have turned to other food providers to prepare for the pause in benefits and that’s put a tremendous strain on food banks and local pantries.
13 On Your Side partnered with Independent Bank to help feed our hungry neighbors.
“We are urging the community to support the organizations that are stepping forward to fill the gap for families,” said WZZM General Manager Dan Baylog. “We want to relieve some of their uncertainty and engage the community in supporting one another.”
