Doing seafood there's tons of pointy bits so I wound up double bagging since the first bag had a tiny hole in it. Silly me that meant a little air is in the first bag. I present, air fryer grade, shoe string, sushi roller 😂 maybe I'll purchase or 3d print something to better hold the bags down lol

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.
If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.
Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.
Thank you!!

Haha good idea! Yea I’m always messing around trying to hold the bags down. I have some magnets that work if the bag is the right size but sometimes it isn’t.
Seal off a bottom compartment of the bag full of quarters or other heavy item.
Has anyone tried what looks like Weighted chainmail or the magnets?
I may be in the minority but I feel certain things just shouldn’t be sous vide, like seafood. If you have info/recipes please educate me.
Try sous vide weights or magnets, they’re like less than $20 on Amazon.
Edit: Gonna state the obvious… you don’t need to buy weights, you just need something to weigh it down
I put plates or bowls in mine
I have a little chain mail net. It works great.
You could put a spoon in the bag.
Just use a plate. This is very easy and you’re making it very complicated.
Metal Steaming basket
A rock, i use a piece of quartz i brought from a hike
I use my meat tenderizer hammer to hold it down.
I just use stainless steel clothespins. Hook them on the bag and they will weigh it down.
I got those little glass stone at Michael’s and vacuum sealed them in a flat sheet the size of my cook tub. Keeps everything down nicely.
Get this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFPG5XDP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If it’s stupid and it works, it’s not stupid
I’ve seen people put metal butter knives in the bag or another bag as a weight. I just get a bowl of water or sometimes a bowl with a jar full of water.
I just pile butter knifes over it
Looks like it works, AND, it was free
“If it ain’t broken…”
Chef Press weights
Get a rock or a brick for your yard… vacuum wrap it and you’re done! Else do it with an old wrench…
I put silverware in the bags
Put the plate IN THE BAG.
The chainmail works well
Can we just acknowledge that this is very clever?
