After seeing 2 different bagel posts, I was inspired to try my own. They came out hideous…..but delicious! They may look horrible, but they are very tasty! 😂

It won’t let me edit the original post – hopefully this is enough for mods! The recipes from another post…but please don’t take my ugly attempt as commentary on the recipe. I suspect it is me!
500g bread flour -270ml water -100g starter -10g salt and 20g honey
10 hours bulk fermentation, shaping at 130g each. Rest for 60 mins. Boiled for 90sec per side and at 210C for 20 mins.

I make bagels pretty regularly. I’m not an expert on them but based on what I know, I’d say your boil time is too long. Try 30 sec per side. Also I note that my bulk proof time is a little bit less. I let it sit out from say 10pm to 7am. But my amount of starter is much more. Here is the recipe I use, which is from a baking book. Please excuse my grotty jar, but I’m enjoying playing around with different ratios and this is making me happy today.

Just slap some cream cheese on it and choke it down with some coffee or go outside and play hockey with them, that’s always a good alternate.
I feel you. I made a hideous loaf that ripped coming out of the banneton. I hate this hobby sometimes 😂
All I read is “I made bagels today” they look and I am sure they taste lovely 😍.
