Did a side-by-side comparison of these two chocolate-lovers' favorites.

Haagen-Dazs Double Belgian Chocolate Chip: Rich, decadent, flavorful, fluffy chocolate mousse taste with little, crispy chips. 10/10

Jeni's Darkest Chocolate: Smooth and cocoa-y, almost coffee-like. Kinda flat and single-note. Some sugar sweetness. Not particularly rich or balanced. 6/10

There's really a huge difference in richness and flavor complexity between these two entries. I checked the ingredients, and Darkest Chocolate is just Milk, Sugar, Cocoa Powder, and stabilizers, while Double Belgian has all of the above plus some Cocoa Butter, Egg Yolks, and Vanilla. The extra ingredients seem to make a huge difference.

Jeni's gets a lot of love on this sub, but it really keeps letting me down. Not sure I plan to try any more of their flavors.

Personally looove B&J chocolate therapy. If you like chocolate cookie/brownie mix-ins I highly recommend it. It has a rich chocolate flavour and the ice cream base tastes more like dark chocolate which I’ve not found anywhere else. Best chocolate lovers ice cream imo

  2. The only Jeni’s I really liked so far was the buttercream birthday cake one.

Haagen dazs is the best in most cases. No competition.

I’m a fan of Talenti Double Dark Chocolate. The ingredient list includes vermouth (!), which gives it a unique hint of booziness.

I haven’t ever tried Jeni’s, because it’s over $9 a pint. Häagen-Dazs is half the price, and absolutely delicious. I love the smoothness of the ice cream and the rich flavor.

Nice to see a Haagen Dazs win against the big guns!
