These were so fun to make but the checkered pattern was tedious! Anyone here use an airbrush for patterns? Tell me all about them.

  1. Meh..I’ve had a Cookie business since 2020 with very consistent orders and I make all needed patterns without having to buy one. I have a small NYC and don’t have space to have an airbrush setup. I’ve also heard it can get everywhere and doesn’t look fun to clean… I already have enough dishes lol. But if you really think you need it then maybe?? In the case of this checkerboard pattern I would’ve done the cookie in all white and do the black squares with a black marker instead. Much quicker and easier!

The checkered looks so good! I personally have a wireless airbrush I got on Amazon for like $25 and it works great and is small and compact! I honestly love it for checkered patterns, stripes, or anything I really want to look crisp. I lay each cookie on a paper towel and it honestly isn’t messy at all to clean up. I don’t use it often, but I am happy I purchased it.

I had one 8 of the 9 years I did cookies & it was always beneficial for me. It was quick to add patterns (especially in bulk making days), I could fake “watercolor” & shading. I never regretted having it. Its not too messy unless you’re heavy handed or using dark colors. Cleaning the stencils isn’t much more work than cleaning up the work station. Do a quick rinse of the nozzle after use and it can go for weeks/months before needing a deep clean. I liked the Cookie Countess one – used Amazon gun replacements when needed (only twice, once the needle was bent & just to have a second on hand). She’s probably going to have a Black Friday sale & could be the time to get one

My Instagram is @jbcookie.co for reference of ways I used mine

Sorry for off-topic, do you use a projector for letters? I am from Europe and a Kodak projector is kind of expensive. I am at the begging of doing cookies and I am not sure if I want to spend a lot of money right now on a good projector

I just did a set with a similar theme and I also spent the whole time heavily considering investing in an airbrush 😂

I ended up drawing on my checker board patterns.
