Why do they got raw meat touching the mash potatoes and stuffing? Or am I supposed to cook that on top of the raw turkey?

Oh I love this! It’s actually how TV dinners came to be.
In the 1950’s, Swanson had way too much turkey. So they decided to package it into aluminum trays that can be cooked in the oven without any other additional prep.
Microwaves, advancements in plastic, and profit margins is why we stopped using aluminium trays for TV dinners.

Nor does it seem safe

Uncooked turkey (I assume), directly touching whatever the rest is… bruh!
At my go to supermarket in germany we have a place to get fresh meat directly. The staff is always asking to tell them if you need anything with chicken and/ or other stuff so they can pack it up in different bags and change gloves.

WTF why isn’t the turkey cooked if the rest of the contents are. A bunch of less than intelligent people will eat that and blame the store for getting poisoned or dying.
