I'm trying to get a few hours of smoke on this brisket before the weather gets real bad. Unfortunately, the rain is starting a bit early. I have the OG daisy top, so I just needed to prevent watering my brisket.

Never seen this method but I’ll keep it in mind. I usually make a makeshift tent with 40ft of aluminum foil haha

This is pretty smart. Also some r/redneckengineering

  3. That’s intense…but if it works who cares!

I just make a foil umbrella.

I agree that if it works it’s not dumb, however I’ve done multiple long cooks in the rain including brisket with the daisy wheel top with zero issues. The holes at the top will be so small as virtually no rain will get in. In conclusion, not dumb, not necessary.

Rain cap is worth the 35 bucks, saved me more than a few times.

The smokeware top is easier but I love the steampunk vibe. If you could power a mechanical thinking machine with the smoke you may be on to something.

I was hoping this was a skillet atop a jet stove sort of setup

    It’s effectively dumb!

But it works, and that’s all that matters hoss.

If you turn the green damper cap upside down, it fits nicely into the top of the chimney and works well for rain deflection and also, surprisingly, works great for allowing ventilation in the off months so you avoid the moldy burn…

Like I always say: don’t confuse effort with results!
