    You did amazingly well with the pastry for someone who has never baked before. It’s an even thickness and looks like it was well made. Most people have a hard time with this. Even amateur bakers who do it a lot

    Is this what people call slab pie? It’s so thick and delightful looking!!!

    Edit: I looked it up and I was wrong. A slab pie is served in a rectangular dish, so you can cut the pie into squares and serve a large number of people. Nonetheless, OP’s pie is beautiful!

    I’ve made this twice now, but the second time I made the as bars (with Asian pears) in 9×13 pan, no topping. So good. And this crust is amazing, and amazingly easy. Way better than a standard shortbread crust.
