I watched the latest episode of Last Week Tonight and he touched on the wine industry. And as usual he did something nutty, in this case had a limited run wine produced in his name. I realize I’m supposed to have tasting notes with a picture, but I’m not sure I’ll drink this, at least not yet. I ordered a bottle and it arrived today!
I’ve never heard of this winery, E2 family. The winery is in Lodi, but the label notes this is a Napa cab. Anyone tried any of their wines? Any good? It was $30 plus tax and shipping. 14.9% abv. At worst I got a fun bottle to incite conversation. And, who knows, maybe it’s actually not bad.

This bottle sold out so quickly! Interested in hearing how it is.
Classic custom crush private label stuff here. Fruit that got dropped in Napa, trucked to Lodi and made into a decent but inexpensive bottling. E2 is run by Ehlers Estate out of Napa and on their website they advertise creating private labels. I would be willing to bet this is wine they made on speculation or bought on the bulk market and slapped a label on to resell for the show.
Beyond that, you probably won’t get much information ie tech sheet, on the wine as that’s not really the point. Novelty is the point I think. If the wine was made by the Ehlers team, it could be decent, if it’s off the bulk market, who really knows. I hope you enjoy it!
How did you only get one if it was that cheap and limited. I would’ve wanted at least 2 — one to taste now/soon and one to lay down for at least a few years.
This was one of the few episodes I didn’t catch until the next day and it was Uber sold out by the time I heard about it. Looking forward seeing your tasting notes!
