A new chapter in Croatian winemaking was written this week as OPG Špoljar, in collaboration with Vina Furjan from Babinec, officially unveiled Rubin Spark, Croatia’s first sparkling blackberry (kupina in Croatian) wine.
The presentation took place on Wednesday at the Martinčević family farm in Cerje Nebojse, drawing numerous guests, including Goran Mališ, Director of the Varaždin County Tourist Board.
The launch marked the culmination of years of dedication, research and passion for nature and local production.

“Our family farm has long been recognised for our award-winning blackberry wine, which has earned 16 gold medals and several silvers, as well as for our juices and jams,” said representatives from OPG Špoljar.
“With this first Croatian sparkling blackberry wine, we have further demonstrated our innovative spirit and commitment to quality.

Rubin Spark is the crown of 20 years of effort and sacrifice. It combines the rich flavour of ripe blackberries with delicate bubbles, creating a drink that delights even the most demanding palates.”

The introduction of Rubin Spark not only celebrates the craftsmanship of local producers but also highlights the growing creativity and innovation within Croatia’s agricultural and winemaking sectors.
