Hi All – just recently got the barista express last weekend – I can’t see anything obviously wrong with how I’m locking the hopper in… any idea why beans seem to be getting stuck around the intake/upper burr? I just tested it again, hoovered it out and re locked the hopper in and again bits are getting caught around it – I don’t know if this is normal, would seem odd!

It’s normal for a bad design to not work properly
Yes, absolutely normal. There are after market parts that solve this if it bothers you. If not just clean it every other week.
Yes normal for the batista express. Nothing you can do about it
Yeah same with my breville barista express

This should do the trick, happy to dm you the link from aliexpress.
I just got a Barista Pro, and as far as I can tell, its design is pretty similar. Should I expect the same problem? If so, I’m assuming the “ring” suggested in the comments should be good for the Pro as well, right?
Yeh , normal , even in Comercial hybrid and bean to cups machines, as long as it doesn’t effect the burr your good , just do as your doing and hoover it out now and again .
I usually take the vacuum cleaner and suck up that shit with a clean crevice tool every week as part of the regular cleaning routine.
Btw, a tip is to also take the opportunity to clean the hopper as well with some dishing soap.
It’s normal, just vacuum it every now and then
Normal, brush it out every couple of months and grind through and dispose
I switched to a single dose hopper with a rubber hopper to poof through when grinding.
I like that since I weigh my beans before grinding.
what’s the setting on your inner adjustment? looks like maybe 6, is does that grind fine enough for you? I have mine in 1 and some beans I still can’t grind fine enough to get a good pull.
For everyone saying to vacuum it. Do y’all measure the input or output of your grind every dose then? Cause these beans would make 18 grams like 17.8? Or would it not matter?
If I can, I take those beans out and then put them back in to use
If you were those beans and were about to get ground up, wouldn’t you wanna hang out on the side too? The fear of getting ground up is real.
