I am trying to eat on a budget for breakfast. One egg and one hash brown per day. What budget friendly breakfast item do you guys think i should add? Please be nice and scold me.

An apple or orange could really balance this out by providing essential vitamin C and fiber. Right now is a good time to buy seasonal apples since it is harvesting time. Fiber makes you feel full and satiated for hours. You can get an entire bag of small apples at least 10 or more for 3-4 bucks. Look for sales, discounts and coupons. Also a half cup of beans, any kind, pinto or black for muscle building. One 15 oz can can provide a few servings at half cup. Essential to measure canned foods to make them last and prevent over eating of carbs. One can of beans at half cup provides about 3.5 servings at half cup. Also beans are a great source of protein. Protein also makes you feel full. Beans are a big part of protein source for vegetarians.

I know it’s more work, but oatmeal or overnight oats really help me stay full. I’m a petite female and would be hungry after an hour with that.

Also more protein. Maybe some beans for both protein and fiber? I love eggs with refried beans.

I used to have a similar meal to you and ud usually add a carrot.

I did it more to give my jaw muscles a small amount of workout since I heard carrots are good for that

But there is also the fiber and nutrients too

Plus, carrots are usually pretty cheap, and if u have the space, u can grow em

Also, potatoes if ur willing to prepare then and they can also be grown

Dude, this makes me sad and wouldn’t keep me full for half an hour.
Try legumes and eggs for brekkie, oatmeal, beans and rice.

    Anything, really.

Get a smaller plate, add veggies and condiments and it won’t look so sad.

If you eat beans, you’ll stay full all day. A bag of dried beans is less than $2 in most places and will last at least a week.

Lentils count as beans to me, and they are the easiest to cook. You don’t have to soak them. Canned beans are also really convenient. Refried beans are rhe best value in the canned genre I’d beans, because it’s all bean ans no water.

I’d add black beans and chopped vegetables in the beaten egg and cook it and over the potato. Slice of tomato, etc.

I personally really like an over-easy egg over rice with a little soy sauce, sometimes I add a little pan-fried spam too. other times i make fried rice with peas & carrots, egg, and also sometimes spam. spam has been pretty pricey lately though so I would only get that on a sale. I used to think I hated it but its not bad when its crisped up

Definitely second the piece of fruit. I eat an apple every morning. Not because of the old adage, but because they are delicious, there’s a ton of variety so I don’t get bored, and they are calorie and nutrient dense.

My daily breakfast is usually 1-2 eggs, whole fat yogurt, an apple, and a handful of some sort of nuts (e.g. walnuts, pecans, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc.). Sometimes I will swap out the eggs for some granola.
