    2024 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé

    Colour: pale salmon pink.
On the nose: very fragrant; raspberries, and apples, but foremost steely/minerals.
On the palate: slight effervescence. Some red berries, but predominate apple peel, and bitter citrus notes. Reminds me of grapefruit and lemon/orange rinds. Lucious mouth coating texture. Quite full bodied. Alcohol is well integrated. High acidity with some very slight tannins. Long finish of grapefruit and minerals. A very mineral driven wine.

It is still quite hot here in Texas, so this evening I decided to do some work in my garden and pop open a Rosé that I have been wanting to try for a while. With temperatures still at 90°F/32°C in Texas, I am still drinking Rosé, though not that you need an excuse to drink Tempier in the first place.

Overall, this wine was very fresh but quite full bodied at the same time. The nose is very expressive with an impressive palate to boot. Definitely meets my expectation at the $50 USD mark. This is my first wine from Domaine Tempier and easily the best Rosé I have had by quite a bit. Really impressed from just the first sip. I found that the wine opened up nicely in the glass after roughly 15 minutes, with more fruit coming out which helped tone down some of the acidity and bitter citrus notes. A serious Rosé and I’m interested to see how my remaining bottles will develop over time.

  2. The 2024 is very nice already but if you could wait 10 years… Big difference. hope you get the chance to do that

If you’re going to drink rosé, Tempier is the one.

How do the strawberries do over the winter?

I drink rosé year round no matter what the temperature outside. They can be some of the best food wines.

Tempier is great but the Pibarnon Rose is even better

It could be -5F outside and I’d gladly open that bottle sitting by a cozy fire in a log cabin.
