I got this in a food box today and I've never encountered this before. It states it's dried black split beans. Do I just make them like regular beans? Are there other recipes I can use them in? The please, and thank you!

You cook those like split peas, but for longer, I use them for dal or soups. Basically soak overnight, then summer in liquid until they become yummy creamy mush.

Thick mush (like dal) use less liquid. Thin mush, like soup, use more liquid.

Google recipes, there’s lots of options. Beans can go Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican etc depending on how you flavour them.

They’re most similar to a lentil. Curry, soup or a burger could all be delicious.

Yes. Treat them like lentils. They will take a bit more time to cook than regular lentils.

Look up recipes for Dal. You can also use them like regular beans. They are a wonderful multipurpose item to have in your pantry.

You could make soup, curry, burritos, tacos, etc with them.

Two quarts of chicken broth and a smoked ham hock and you got a fine soup. Add water as needed.
