Make it or buy it. Baguette. This store-bought baguette cost me €229. I made this baguette for €24. That’s 10 times cheaper. Good job. Woohoo. But is it worth the effort? The night before baking, add flour, salt, yeast, and water to a bowl. Stir until combined and let it rest. The next morning, dust with flour so it doesn’t get all sticky and form your baguette. Bake at 250° C for 25 minutes and it’s done. I would rate the difficulty a 1 out of 10. Very, very easy and less than 5 minutes of hands-on work. But how does it taste? My fresh crunchy baguette made the storebought one feel chewy, flat, and sad.

  1. "Bedrag" is very funny to me, as in Danish it means "betrayal", and given the price (which would be equally high in Denmark, don't you worry)…

Edit: or rather, it means "misdirection" referring to something not being what it advertises itself as

  2. All the people complaining about the electricity prices for an oven have clearly never paid a utility bill.

25 minutes of baking is a couple cents

  3. I'm sorry but your baguette did not look appetizing. You missed several steps and just threw a dough in the oven. Still better than most breads in the US, but that ain't baguette

  4. Why are people always so hostile when it comes to videos like this , like its not a personal attack against u for buying premade items bro 😭😭

  5. Yall pretending it didn't take him at least half an hour in sum. Depending on what other things (work) could be done in that time, it would be cheaper to buy one

  6. People are saying it's expensive but in Finland if u want one made the same day from the grocery store it's 2,5€-4€ 😭

  7. This feels weird, I can get one of those "baguettes" at the grocery store for 90 cents, and the flour and yeast used to make one is more expensive (maybe 50-60 cents).

In my case I'd definitely rather buy it.

  8. Did anyone also notice that the baguette is from the Albet Hein (a dutch store)? Cause then it would really be a baguette. Also what is dude doing in the Netherlands?!

  9. How is that 24 cents? That's the price of the flour alone, if I take the cheapest one. Even ignoring water, salt and yeast, you still gotta factorbin work time and the energy the oven uses to bake it.

  10. Sadly, in my country, a bag of flour cost RM 3.50, not including yeast etc, a loaf of bread is RM4.20. It is hard your local ingrediants is slightly less affordable

  11. bro this is definitely NOT how a baguette should be made. What the hell was that monstruosity you made? 😭😭😭😭

  12. I worked as a baker for some company's who make strore brought bread's they are literally stored on the ground that isn't the case for most companies but most just put it anywhere and even if it walls on the crusty ass foor they will sell it

  13. Ah yes, when I crave baguette I'll definitely go back in time let the dough rest overnight and wait for it 25 minutes in the morning. Here standard baguette costs ≈ 0.06€ thanks to our government so it's even cheaper than planning one day ahead and messing the kitchen table up

  14. What kind of exspenive Dutch shop do u go to. It’s always just 1€. It’s also always made fresh like no baguette u can buy in most shops are older than 2h
