The red one used to have a black top, but I’ve been slowly switching everything out on it, and the last part of the project was going to be to add a side burner which I have, but I just have not installed and redo all the wood slats in black walnut. You can see I’ve already done the handle and I redid the slats in the cabinet. I love it because it’s the model that has the excessively large amount of flavorizer bars, and I’ve never seen one with these glass doors before which is really cool. But it does take a while to get up to temperature and I use the Weber griddle insert a lot and this one seems to take a good long while to heat that up and it’s hard to get it all the way up to 600°. The genesis I’m told is one of the last years before they started cheeping out on their products, and is a very good unit. It was a gift from a friend and I’m told it’s quite a bit more powerful, I also like the larger cooking service as I have a family of four and I often cook for extra people. But I cannot for the life of me decide which one is better. The genesis does seem to have a bit more power but the old red one has some great nostalgia is very cool looking and if I finish it with the wood slats will be a really neat looking piece.

To everyone saying, just keep both my deck is not big enough and I have other Cooking implements on it like a pizza oven and a smoker so one of these has to go.

I would love it if everyone would tell me which one they would keep and why because I’m having a hard time here.

Thanks everyone.

The newer grills get hotter and I prefer the flame tubes going back to front instead of side to side.

That’s said, I grew up watching my dad grill on a redhead and love them if you upgrade the grates to SS rods.

How about you KEEP one on the the deck and the other in the garage. Switch them out when you want to. More importantly why do you feel the need to get rid of one?

Keep both. Use your favorite for day to day cooking and bring out the other one when you host a party. We’re planning on upgrading from a Spirit II to a Genesis very soon and are considering using the older grill in support of our annual summer party.

I started to get confused when you stated referring to the genesis since both are a Genesis lol

I need the red one so bad to go with my red SSP.

I’d keep Ole red for sure. It looks way cooler, is a good conversation price, and will last a lifetime.

I’m surprised you are having an issue getting up to temp. Maybe it’s an issue with the regulator?

I like the direction of the burners running front to back. This way one side can be hot and the other side cooler. I have the other one like your red one. It is awkward when trying to control heat I have a cooler front and a hotter back but the little warming rack above the back gets in the way.
