It’s that time of year again when Christmas shopping is now firmly crossing your mind. Even before Halloween and Bonfire Night had been and gone, many retailers had opened their festive delivery slot bookings, allowing shoppers to grab all the essentials ahead of December 25.

Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons are among several supermarkets that have already made these spaces available to the public. These Christmas ranges feature everything from traditional favourites, like turkey and mince pies, to a variety of limited-edition treats ideal for sharing with loved ones.

With only 45 days left until Christmas, the Mirror has explored all you need to know about three key supermarkets’ Christmas deliveries, including available festive items and ordering deadlines. Booking cut-off dates typically occur several days before December 25, so planning ahead is essential to avoid missing out.

Sainsbury’s

Most deliveries will take place between December 18 and 24. Customers can also amend their orders up until 11pm the night before the delivery.

The supermarket’s online advice adds: “Our Christmas slots fill up fast, if you can’t see a delivery slot available for the date you’d like, why not try Click and Collect? With Click and Collect, grabbing your shopping takes a matter of minutes and you can collect any time during your one-hour slot.”

Although some festive products, including party foods and plant-based options, are now viewable on Sainsbury’s website, more will be added in the coming weeks, including new items arriving in November and December. As a result, delivery dates may vary for certain items, including:

Christmas cheeses – available from November

Festive meat joints – available from November

Asda

Asda deliveries are set to take place between December 21 and 23. The last date you can add Food to Order products to an order and check out is December 15. Shoppers can also add groceries to the trolley until 11pm on the day before delivery.

Asda’s online advice reads: “Pre-order your festive centrepieces and let us take the hassle out of your festive food shop. Whether delivered directly to your door or collected from one of our stores, your festive feast will make this a Christmas celebration to remember. You can now order from our Food to Order range by booking a Christmas delivery or collection slot between 21st–23rd December.”

This year, Asda’s Christmas range includes more than 500 products, including festive classics and various new items. A delicious ‘Gingerbread Man-shaped Belgian Chocolate Mousse’, ‘Exceptional Hot Maple Pigs in Blanket’ and pre-prepared ‘Turkey with all the Trimmings’ boxes are among the foods it is offering.

In September, Linsay Taylor, senior director for new product development at Asda explained: “Christmas is without a doubt the most magical time of year, but we understand it can also feel can also feel overwhelming. This year we’ve developed a range of festive favourites for all meal occasions we know our customers will love along with solution-based innovation for a smooth and seamless day. This Christmas our mission, has been laser focused on providing great quality products, but most importantly, at the best possible price, making Christmas magical and affordable for all!”

Morrisons

Delivery slots will be made between December 20 and 24.

According to Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert (MSE), cut-off times for editing orders can differ, so it is advisable to check your confirmation email for further details.

Information on Morrisons website also adds: “We know our customers love our Christmas Food to Order Service for a stress free Christmas shop. You will be able to place your Christmas Food to Order alongside your Online Groceries shop for the key dates leading up to the big day. Orders can be serviced via Click and Collect and Home Delivery at a time that suits you. On December 24, there will be a selected range of products available to collect via Click and Collect only.”

For 2025, Morrisons is offering various fan-favourite food items in addition to new festive treats. ‘The Best Spiced Rum and Ginger Tarts’, a signature Limoncello Panettone and even some vegan ‘Maple Roast Chestnut, Cranberry and Orange Stuffing Balls’ are among its new offerings.
