Let’s make some delicious teriyak beef skewers out on our grill. This is the perfect hot appetizer that brings an amazing flavor with tender teriyak beef to your next cookout. Now, these skewers cook up super fast. They bring together a ton of flavor. They’re nice and tender. Everyone’s going to love them. All right, the first easy step in this recipe is going to be to fold our thinly sliced steak and get it onto our skewers so we can pour our marinade over. I’m going to show you how to make these skewers two different ways. The first cut of meat I’m going to use is a shaboo shaboo style thinly sliced New York. The other option is to buy a flank steak and slice it yourself. The thing about the Shaboo Shaboo is that it’s a little more expensive, but it’s super tender, it’s super flavorful, and it has a really nice marbling. Since it comes already sliced, all you have to do is fold one slice in half and then thread a bamboo skewer back and forth through it. Then you’re just going to spread the meat out until it’s a nice thin skewer. Let me show you that one more time. You fold your slice in half. Take a bamboo skewer and start with one end. Thread it back and forth, pushing the skewer through. It’s not hard at all because this meat is so tender. You’re going to spread it out until it’s nice and thin. So, just do this with however many slices you want to make. I’m making 16. And then we’re going to pour a marinade over it. So, I’m using a store-bought marinade that I happen to really enjoy. You can use whatever you want. For our flank steak shoot skewers, I am going to show you a quick and easy marinade that you can mix up yourself. So, once these all get covered in their marinade, I’m going to pop this in to the refrigerator for 2 to 4 hours. Then, when you’re ready to cook, you’re going to heat your grill to 400°. We’re going to put the skewers directly on the grill grates. Spread them out in a nice even layer so that they have plenty of space. Get that lid closed and they’re going to cook for about 2 and 1/2 minutes. After 2 and 1/2 minutes, we’re going to come by, flip them, close that lid, and let them finish cooking for another 2 and 1/2 minutes. These teriyak beef skewers are everything I want in a meaty appetizer. They cook ultra fast. They’re super simple to make, but they’re easy to serve. So, after you get them onto your plate, um, drizzle them with some extra teriyak sauce and then garnish either with some thinly sliced green onions or some toasted sesame seeds. Make sure you’re ready to serve these right away because they cool off so quickly. You can practically eat them right off the grill. They’re tender, they’re tasty, everything you want in an appetizer. Let’s do the same thing with our flank steak. So, flank steak is a little less expensive and a little less tender. So, let me show you how we’re going to slice it. First, going to wrap it in some plastic wrap and pop it in my freezer for about 20 minutes. If the outside is slightly frozen, it’s easier to thinly slice. Once you take it out, you can unwrap it and then start slicing it. So, we’re going to turn it on an angle and we’re going to try to cut about a/4 in slices at a 45° angle. It I know I’m giving you specific information, but you don’t have to be that technical. The goal here is to have some thin and and wide strips that you can easily thread on your skewers. So, you really only need like 15 or 20 minutes in the freezer to firm up your flank steak so it’s easier to slice. So, that’s nice. So, just like we did with the other one, we’re going to thread these through on our skewer. They’re still going to cook super fast. just a little more affordable and we had to do a little bit of the work, but the slicing was quick. Go ahead and get them all skewered, then make a marinade. For a simple marinade, we’re going to start with a couple tablespoons of brown sugar, a half a cup of soy sauce, about two teaspoons or just a generous squirt of this Thai chili sauce. Then we’re going to add in a dash of sesame oil and some spices. I’m going to do some ground ginger, some garlic powder, some onion powder, and black pepper. Stir your marinade really well. Pour it all over the top. And then pop this in the refrigerator for about 2 hours is all you need because the soy sauce will add plenty of seasoning to your ultra thin slices of flank steak. Once you’re ready to cook, turn your grill back on to 400° and make sure you let it preheat for at least 15 minutes with the lid closed so it’s nice and hot. Get those skewers on. Close the lid. We’re going to cook them just like we did the other ones. 5 minutes total, 2 and 1/2 minutes per side. So once they are cooked completely, pull them off to a plate. Go ahead and finish them with a little extra teriyak sauce if you want. Garnish with green onions or toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately.
