An Italian restaurant in Sydney’s west has burnt down, with more than 60 fire crews battling the blaze overnight.

Emergency services were alerted to a fire at Savanas in Wetherill Park about 1am.

The fire took over an hour for fire crews to get under control, however, the building was destroyed.

The owners had run the business for 27 years. 

“This is my life,” Abi Haddad said.

“My partner has family (who) depend on it, we spent so much money on renovation, you wouldn’t believe.”

Haddad said they recently completed cosmetic work on the building in preparation for a busy holiday period. 

The remains of the restaurant are still a crime scene as investigators continue to find the cause of the blaze.

Investigators have turned their attention to a balcony attached to the restaurant.
