The original Wendy’s frosty was one of the first five menu items that the chain’s founder, Dave Thomas, created back in 1969.

To celebrate the frozen treat, Wendy’s is declaring that November 15 is now Frosty Day – which fittingly falls on the anniversary of the very first Wendy’s restaurant opening back on November 15 over 50 years ago.

“Frosty has been at the heart of our menu since the very beginning – a treat that embodies the tradition, innovation and legacy Wendy’s continues to stand for today,” said Lindsay Radkoski, Wendy’s US chief marketing officer, in a press release.

“So it’s only fitting that we officially claimed November 15 as Frosty Day, a new tradition dedicated to our loyal customers and Frosty fans. We invite everyone to raise a spoon (or fry) and join us in celebrating this iconic frozen dessert!”

The frozen treat got a major revamp earlier this year with the fast food giant’s introduction of the frosty swirls and frosty fusions, with a new one recently added to the lineup.

Wendy’s Frosty Flavors

The Frosty has remained a fan favorite at Wendy’s, on the menu since the late 1960s when founder Dave Thomas created the treat.

The original Frosty flavor was a mix of chocolate and vanilla, as Thomas thought that a pure chocolate flavor would be too overpowering with Wendy’s burgers.

Since its launch over 50 years ago, Wendy’s has rolled out a handful of seasonal Frosty flavors:

Strawberry
Pumpkin Spice
Peppermint
Orange Dreamsicle
Triple Berry
Pineapple Under the Sea
Salted Caramel

Foodies can celebrate the inaugural Frosty Day with the newest frosty creation: the Snickerdoodle Cookie Frosty Fusion, made with the iconic vanilla frosty blended with a sweet cinnamon snickerdoodle sauce and topped with cookie crumbles.

While the limited-time Snickerdoodle Cookie Frosty Fusion is only available in US restaurants, the fast food giant has grown its iconic treat into a global sensation, with new and exciting frosty innovations popping up on Wendy’s menus around the world.

Fast food fans in the UK, for example, indulge in the Biscoff frosty topped with a crunchy Biscoff Crumb, while those in Canada can’t get enough of the Caramel Toffee Frosty.

While foodies worldwide love the treat that was created over five decades ago, Ohio stands strong as the frosty capital.

More frostys were sold in Wendy’s home state last year than any other US state.

As Wendy’s launches its newest frosty creation and honors the dessert with its own special day, the chain has set out to abruptly close hundreds of sites this year as the CEO rolls out a “fresh” plan.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s has made its first big chicken move in eight years.
