My favorite vegetable ramen in the city was the vegetable ramen at Hide Chan, which permanently closed a few months ago. It was a clean and crisp broth, very garlicky, I think made with mushroom base but it didn't have an earthy or mushroomy flavor. It was absolutely delicious and I'm so sad it's gone. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  1. It’s not Manhattan but not too far from it, but I would give Ippudo V in DUMBO a shot. Everything is either vegan or vegetarian and they have some interesting choices.

  2. Haven’t tried Ishida’s vegetable ramen but if it’s anything like their others it’s amazing. It’s been on the menu forever too

If I’m gonna be very honest with you that photo would not put me on vegan ramen. How did the avocado work with everything in here?

My favorite ones so far are Danbo, Ippudo, Izakaya Juraku, Tonchin and Ishida. I like complex profiles – most times, I don’t like Shoyu ramen.

I loved Cocoron but it keeps failing health ratings and I can’t get myself to go there.

Setagaya in Williamsburg has an excellent vegan ramen

I was gonna recommend my favorite ramen place, Misoya, but looks like they’ve shut down. 😭

I used to love Souen’s (they give you an absolutely massive bowl of soup) but the last time I was there a few years ago I got the worst stomach ache from it and haven’t been back.

My absolute favorite veggie ramen was Ramen Hood, but they were here so briefly. I still dream about them.

Edit: Oramen has a pretty good vegetarian ramen but the place always smells like floor cleaner to me and that fucks with the taste for me.

And last, Zest has a tomato based one that I like but I haven’t been there in years so not sure if it’s the same.

Edit 2: Looks like Misoya moved to the west village. Not gone!

Ippudo V in Dumbo. Regular Ippudo has very good veggie ramen. Ramen Danbo is pretty good too.

I know it’s been mentioned, but Ramen Ishida for sure! One of my old coworkers is vegan and another is halal so we’d end up there for dinner sometimes. I eat meat but there were a bunch of times I would end up ordering the vegan ramen also cause it’s just that good

  10. Mr Taka’s spicy vegan has the most complex broth, and is loaded with veggies

RIP Hide-Chan. I loved that place. It was always the most satisfying meal. Gutted it’s gone.

Nishida sho-ten on 49th has a decent one. Not as much umami as Hide-Chan tho. I had it last night and wasn’t disappointed. sub the veggie for miso broth if that’s your thing, and it’s a winner.

My wife loved Danbo’s curry ramen before they discontinued it. Any other recommendations where we can get vegan curry ramen? Asking to restore back domestic bliss!

Souen is all vegan/macrobiotic and they have a few ramen options

This looks like what leftovers I find in my fridge and throw it together in a bowl

Who invited avocado to a ramen bowl???

As a non-vegetarian, I can still get down with Ramen Ishida’s vegan bowl. But they’re also my favorite shop in the city
