MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis media outlets are partnering with the Mid-South Food Bank for a joint food drive Friday as food insecurity continues to affect Mid-South residents following the recent government shutdown.
The “Day of Giving” food drive is taking place Friday, November 14 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Poplar Plaza parking lot at Poplar and Highland.
TV anchors, journalists and radio hosts from across the Mid-South will be on-site for the drive-thru event where people can donate in-person. Action News 5 along with six other media organizations are participating in partnership, including WREG, ABC24, FOX13, WKNO, the Daily Memphian and the Commercial Appeal.
Volunteers from all participating outlets and the Mid-South Food Bank are collecting donations as drivers drop off food items.
The collaborative effort comes as many Mid-South families continue to face food insecurity following the government shutdown that ended Thursday.
If you’re not able to donate in person, scan the QR code in the photo below!
