My sister works second shift and has been on my case to share more slow cooker recipes. So, welcome back. We’re making another one. I’ve got two lbs of carrots that I peeled and I’m chopping. It doesn’t give me like a quantity, but like a bunch of celery, you know, like one bundle of celery. One white onion, also chopped. Now, for the veggies, we don’t want to just kind of leave them, you know, under there cuz we’re going to put the chicken on top and butter and stuff. So, we want to season our veggies. Going in with some garlic. Yes, honey. Seasoning salt. If you have pepper added in, my kid got the pepper yesterday and dumped it on the couch. So, we don’t have any pepper today, and I don’t know when I’m getting back to the grocery store. Chicken that I seasoned with the same seasonings that I put on the vegetables, but also paprika. Also adding in four cups or a 32 oz container of chicken broth. And while no one’s looking, a few tablespoons of butter. All right. Now, this is going to cook low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to four hours. I’m going to go to the gym and I’m going to cook this on high and I’ll see you guys soon. Hi, I’m back from the gym. So, whether you cook this on high or low, when you were at the last hour of cooking time, so for me, I cooked it on high for 4 hours. At the 3 hour mark right now, I took my chicken out and I’m just going to shred it. Now, before I add my chicken back in there, I’m going to go ahead and take a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch and some water. We’re going to make it three. Actually, we’re going to do three tablespoon of cornstarch. And you just want enough water that way you can dissolve it. Once there’s no clumps in the cornstarch, add it into the crock pot. And then I’m going to go in with one cup of heavy whipping cream. All of my shredded chicken is going in. Guys, I found some black pepper randomly in a cabinet. Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay, now to make the dumplings, I really like using Bisquick Mix because this is what my mom always did. This is how I make dumplings for beef stew. This is how I make my dumplings for chicken and dumplings. I just take some of this. I don’t measure it and I add in some milk and I go for like a nice thick texture, which I’ll show you the texture. Obviously, the dumplings are the best part for me, whether it’s a beef stew or the chicken and dumplings. So, I like to make quite a bit. It’s not pancake batter. It’s thick. Come on. With my two spoons, I’m just going to add in my little dumplings. By the time I got all my dumplings in there, I’ve got 46 minutes left on here. I’m going to cover this and halfway through that 46 minutes. So, at math, at 23 minutes, I’m going to flip the dumplings and I will show you guys what it looks like when it’s done. This just finished. While I was putting my pajamas on, I was just thinking if you are cooking this on low, you shred your chicken, you add in your cornstarch, you add in your cream, you add in your dumplings. Turn it to high for that last hour to cook the dumplings. And that is dinner.

  2. You are so wonderful as a mother and as a teacher for other home cooks! I so enjoy your videos even though Iโ€™m an older lady now and have always loved to cookโ€ฆLast night I made pork chop mushroom gravy over potatoes, tonightโ€˜s dinner is going to be red beans and rice in my instant pot so guess what tomorrowโ€™s dinner is going to be? Iโ€™m a single person household now so needless to say I have to freeze a lot of leftovers or future lazy day meals, (just no one to cook for anymore) but since I love to cook and wake-up in the morning thinking what can I cook for tonightโ€™s dinner, this has made me crave chicken and dumplings! Thank you!!!

  8. You are making it almost like I did back when I had a growing family. The only real difference is I would usually use a whole chicken. Bisquick is what my mom used it is still the go to for many recipes. Damn, I could use a dumpling about now.

  9. That pepper showing up in a random cupboard was a miracle and hopefully it lasted until you were able to get more.

  10. I do the same but will do heavy cream. I add fresh parsley chopped in the dumpling mix, then spoon over. Looks very pretty the dumplings with the fresh parsley. I'm making your spinch, artichoke, and pasta this weekend.
