My first harvest, could I have let the ghost peppers get a little darker?

I had to bring all the peppers into my garage from the outside and only a few of them have ripened. This is my first time growing and they all got a late start it and didn't really take off until late in the season. I have a whole bunch more ghosts, habaneros, and gong bao that are still green. Will they ripen in my garage without much natural light, or should I get a grow light? Thanks!
