A new Mediterranean spot from the restaurateur behind Open Sesame is expected to open this month in Dallas.

Babel will serve shareable Lebanese-inspired dishes in an upscale setting designed as a modern Babylonian retreat. It is located within The Centrum building at Oak Lawn Avenue and Cedar Springs Road.

Customers can indulge in a variety of house-made mezze, grilled meats, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

While inspiration is drawn from Lebanese flavors, the restaurant said it will highlight a range of Mediterranean cuisines, “from Beirut to Marrakesh,” according to a news release.

The restaurant comes from Mo Kamal, who is the restaurateur behind Open Sesame, a casual Lebanese grill about half a mile from Babel.

His sister, Zeina Kamal, is Babel’s chef, charged with bringing family recipes to life.

“With Babel, I wanted to create something that feels personal — a place that honors my family’s recipes, Lebanon’s rich culinary heritage and an elevated experience that guests will appreciate,” said Mo Kamal in a statement. “Every detail, from the food to the atmosphere to the service, will tell that story.”

No menu details are available yet, and an official opening date has not been shared.

Babel is at 3180 Welborn St., Dallas. It will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sundays.
