I’ve got the Weber Original Kettle 18” version. I know I can do the snake method but I’m interested to know if there are any products I could buy to basically add a “center section” like the Smokey Mountain has and raise the grill grate height way up away from the coals. I’m imagining cooking briskets and chuck roasts and pork shoulders on the grill 18” above the coals with wood chips in them and using the vents to keep the heat around 250 F for 6 hours. Would this product work? The pics show hanging rib racks but no elevated grill grate:

There’s an elevated grill grate shown if you scroll down on the product page.
Interesting product. I’ll be interested to see how well it works
Throw it in, take the hangers out, throw a grate on top. Should work alright Id think as long as it’s a tight fit
Look up the slow n sear brand. I converted my 22″ kettle to a 2 zone set-up and have never looked back
I did this with a 14” Smokey Joe and an imusa Tamala steamer pot.
Not sure of one that will fit the 18” though. The Imusa pot fits the 14” perfectly. I use a pizza stone for a diffuser

I wonder if you can find a big pot and cut the bottom out of it. That’s what I did with a smokey joe
I have it for my 22in. It does the job and you can put grates on it at different levels. It’s not manufactured to tight specs though but it seems to work fine and I think it’s a great value. I also got the ceramic charcoal firebox also which works pretty good, the ceramic heat stone over the coals is nice for indirect heat.
I have an 18″ WSM and a 22″ kettle. As far as brisket goes, you need to get creative with the 18″. I draped the brisket over a rib rack to put a curve in the brisket to make it fit in the 18″ WSM. I’m my kettle, I use a coal ring with a heat diffuser and the 22″ diameter means you can lay the brisket right on without having to finagle it.
If this is the route you want to go, I’d recommend bumping up to a 22″ kettle and getting the extension for the 22″.
