Classic. When my son arrived (he’s 4 months old now), I was so tired I did this often. I also used to place the cup ready for extraction, then proceed to somehow lose it until I got frustrated and went to grab a new cup, only to find it ready to go.

Is this like the equivalent of taking a video first of your kid tripping before rushing to help.

Your grinder actually has a sad face

Espresso making is a cognitive test

This is why we need fully automated

Trust me, this won’t be the last time it happens. 😂

I once refilled water into my grinder. 😵‍💫

Happens to the best of us.

Btw, does anyone know how to accurately re-align the burr setting on the df54/64? I open em up to clean the inside but it seems that the setting disc is misalligned. Pretty unsettling

I bet even Hoffmann does this once or twice a year. I’m surprised he hasn’t done a scientific, particle size, taste analysis of salvaged vs non-salvaged.

We don’t know why but grinding directly onto your worktop has a 3% more balanced profile. But only with grinders in the 200 – 312 price range.

For the rest of the, it doesn’t matter. Grind in your cup, grind onto your worktop – the effects are negligible.

Now I want to know. Does this match your experience?. Does salvaged coffee taste better? Leave a comment below.

That’s the neatest dump I’ve ever seen. Mine are all over the countertop and floor!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made a 12 cup carafe in the morning and forgot the carafe. Kids are tiring.

  13. I once put the beans in the bottom part of a hand grinder and started grinding thinking it was surprisingly easy to grind

Press it’s face in it while repeating ‘Bad grinder!’ so it won’t do it again.

The eternal irony of needing coffee before your first coffee. 🤔

  16. This happened to me yesterday morning and my dumb ass instinct was to use my hand to catch the coffee… Which led to the chute clogging do badly that I had to take the grinder apart for a deep clean lol

Before switching to mostly espresso my wife and I would regularly brew a pot of drip coffee with no grinds. Happened almost once a month it felt like.

Sometimes coffee prep work requires coffee to get it right.

Some ppl use beans that drop on the floor I’m sure you can use this for a quick “dirty” shot.
