Grgich Hills. Consistent house style, manages to make good wines in bad years (I just had a 2011 Napa Cab from them that was excellent), a benchmark winery for sure.

    Kumeu River.

How they make what they make in a subtropical climate beggars belief.

    Or

    Shaw & Smith

Fab, elegant Chardonnays and so consistent

  4. Mchangwine

Goodfellow. They have an outstanding portfolio of both red and white wines, ranging from entry level bottlings to extremely age-worthy whites and reds.

  5. Felton Road, NZ. Delicious high quality Pinot Noir and others. Reasonable price for a high quality product

  6. WineNerdAndProud

    I really like Rhys

Mount Eden is another amazing one.

Big fan of Togni- their second wine, Tannbark Hill, always seems to deliver. I’d give a nod to Chappellet too, their Mountain Cuvee is great for the price, as well as their higher end wines.

Depends on what you define as best. For me it’s Penfolds. I know they are huge but they have good product at every price point, I can’t recall ever having a bad bottle, and some of them are really special.

  9. Tablas Creek. Great at interpreting Old World standards like CdP, but inventive enough to pull out single expressions of varietals like Tannat and Counoise and Bourblanc that are fresh and new and definitively of the New World

  10. Aggressive_Age8818

I drink almost exclusively Old World but probably for me Ovid
