Louis Roederer Cristal. Hands Down the best sparkling wine I’ve ever tasted.
I know Krug is likely to win, but I’ll officially throw my hat in the ring and nominate:
Jacques Selosse Millésime Extra Brut Grand Cru
Why do I want to nominate a Lambrusco for the lol’s?
Sparkling Shiraz about to come in with the steel chair.
Krug.
This will be Krug of course, but for more affordable I’ll vouch for Ruinart BdB
Category/Region: English Sparkling
Value: Franciacorta
Luxury: any Special Club bottling
Producer: Gatinois
Dom Ruinart
I’ll throw a wildcard in and say… Bugey-Cerdon
Krug 1988 Clos du Mesnil.
Affordable: Pierre Peters
André California Champagne. Only the finest champagne from California.
I’ll go for a curve ball. Henri Giraud, the range is spectacular. The Argonne especially delicious.
For a reasonable price: Billecart-Salmon
franciacorta
Krug or Jacques Selosse
Value: corpinnat
Am ok w all of the below here
Selosse
Cedric Bouchard
Egly Ouriet
Henri Giraud
Krug
Raumland triumvirat if money matters. If not probably krug clos d ambonnay
It was already spoken about, but andre clouet. 1911 slaps.
Salon, especially well stored bottles of 96 or 08.
I dare anyone to find better value for money and higher average level than english sparkling.
Gusbourne, Nyetimber, black chalk, simpsons, take your pick and they will be delicious
Cremant D’Alsace
I really like recentos
I’ll nominate Delamotte for its deliciousness and value.
Eric Rodez Rosé Brut.
I mean uh, off vintage Krug.
Krug Clos du Mesnil, because it would be too easy to say Krug otherwise
There is a California champagne by Paul Masson, inspired by that same French excellence. It’s fermented in the bottle and, like the best French champagne, it’s vintage dated….mahhhhhh
Im looking at the chart for the first time and almost all of these are takes I wouldnt have expected. Is it the US bias or…? Im a bit confused.
Bernard-Massard would be my pick for sparkling, or any of the various houses who make cremant.
Egly-Ouriet
Nyetimber
Krug
