Not sure if anyone is interested. I am from Germany and since Aldi is German based they do have this bread every now and then. I used to eat it in Germany, too. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, it’s dense and you actually have to chew it (versus I feel like a lot of bread here just dissolves if you keep it in your mouth 😜). I am pretty sure I am the only one at our local Aldi buying it, because I am counting them. I went to the manager and asked him to let me know before he pulls them off the shelf, I will buy them ALL! They are vacuum sealed and freeze beautifully. Even without freezing they are good until August of 2026. I love bread and this is a great alternative for me. I love the simple ingredients and the literally whole grain kernels. Give it a try, it’s super filling and your gut will thank you 😊

I’m going to have to look for this next time I hit up Aldi. I never liked rye bread but it’s grown on me now that I’m older.
I tried this bread in Minnesota, USA. Dry and crumbly. Not good. I will, however, say that my Aldi, in New Ulm, MN, is the closest I will probably ever get to visiting Germany. Auf wiedersehen!
Awesome find
I like this bread too! I’ve had the pleasure of eating it in Germany so I was excited to see it for sale at Aldi. Also no seed oil, which is vanishingly rare in commercial bread.
This looks like the Mestemacher bread I buy from a specialty grocery. Amazon has it at double the price. It’s great for open-faced sandwiches and has a really high fiber content.
I’ve tried that one (even though it has a different branding in Spain)
it kinda tastes like shit i gotta admit
The nearest Aldi is almost an hour for me, but I’m making a trip just for this bread. I love it!
Oh, I love this kind of bread! Was it in the bread area at your store, or a different aisle? I will have to keep an eye out when I go! I also didn’t know that Aldi was German!
How much does this for at your aldi? And is it located in the states?
I love this kind of bread too!
270g sodium?….
I get that one sometimes, it’s really good. I’m trying to see if I can bake something similar as we speak (about to pull it from my oven, then it needs to rest a couple of days).
I buy Mestemacher brand and it’s unmatched. Sometimes can find on Amazon. It’s best toasted. Totally changes the flavor and consistency of the bread and it’s super delicious.
They also sell this type of bread in Wegmans with other euro products
These make the BEST grilled cheese ever. I love the German bread with Aldi beer cheddar and a little Dijon mustard. 😙👌 Not totally MD but a wonderful treat on occasion.
There is a Slavic grocery and bakery store about a half an hour away from me. They carry a similar brand of breads like this, Flax seed, Whole Rye. and Pumpernickel. I love the Pumpernickel bread. I have fond memories of it when I was a child with my mother.
These are very healthy breads.
I get this too! Absolutely love the stuff.
I love this kind of bread. I wish I could make it at home. The tangy, grainy, almost meaty texture is sublime.
This is awesome! Thx for sharing this
Delicious!
For those in the US without Aldi you can get something similar at Whole Foods under the brand Mestermacher.
I was looking for a Danish rye bread for open-faced sandwiches and this has been the closest thing I can find here.
I am eating a piece of that Aldi’s bread right now!
As a kid I wasn’t a fan, but as an adult I love it.
Tastes great toasted or grilled in some olive oil.
