Visited a friend's soft opening for his Korean-fusion bakery opening up on 1360 W Belmont Ave sometime in October. He was at farmers markets for a long time and its exciting that he has a permanent space. Reviews are obviously slightly biased but I know this community loves asian-fusion bakeries like Del Sur and Sweet Moon, so wanted to share my personal opinions on dishes I tried.

  1. French Onion Croissant (not pictured): Great caramelized onion flavor, very savory and seems like such an obvious combination of ingredients.
  2. Dill Pickle Focaccia (not pictured): Very surprised that I enjoyed this, the vinegar pickle flavor works well with the denser bread. Personally I think there could be just 1-2 focaccia on the menu, maybe rotating daily.
  3. Brisket Roll: The pastry itself was very flaky and soft, pretty solid puff pastry and the filling delicious. It's kinda small, but for brisket it makes sense.
  4. Coconut Sesame Croissant (in first photo next to tteakbokki): Very flaky pastry again, well baked. I do think I'd rather have this in the same pain au chocolate style instead of a square croissant since it felt like I had to take too many bites to actually get to the filling, which was delicious. Sesame and coconut works so well together.
  5. Black Sesame Matcha: Exactly what it sounds like, deeper flavor matcha w the sesame. Pretty solid.

Overall I think this is an exciting addition to the bakery scene esp since there's not many korean-inspired bakeries besides tous les jour. Hope yall check it out when they are officially launched in the coming weeks.
