Fu Hui Hua’s doing a special 1 month only crab menu with Shanghai mitten crab from Lake Yancheng, seikogani, kegani, zuwaigani and a few other types of crab. Chinese food isn’t something I’m incredibly familiar with although many dishes here are similar to things I do recognize given some overlap between Japanese / Chinese food from stuff like shippoku ryori et al

My favorites for the night were a 3 layered shinjo/meatball based off of 狮子头 that were made without binding using only crab meat and a little salt in a soup of crab and chrysanthemums – everything worked together so nicely and the shinjo was cooked perfectly, a 辣子魚 with ankou w one piece topped with ankimo was also amazing – its spice controlled super well, the hainese shirako – which I found super fun and lightly inspired by a shirako-zuke thing Yoshizumi is doing rn and the final crab rice which is just so so delicious – genuinely haven’t had anything as good in the Bay all year.

Menu won’t be there for long so please try it out – I plan to go again as soon as possible

  2. Oooo is that Shirako?

Last time I saw a chef serve that, the poor American couple beside us were trying their best to not throw up eating it lol.
