This is about the 50th time I've made this recipe and it gets a little better each time. The only change I make to the recipe is reserving a total of 3 cups of cooked beans before blending (immersion blender method is far superior), rather than the 2.5 cups the recipe calls for. I like to serve it with warm French rolls, and liberal amounts of apple cider vinegar and a vinegar based hot sauce.
