The nation’s favourite Christmas food and drinks have been revealed, with turkey surprisingly only securing the 4th spot. A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that chocolate reigns supreme as the top Yuletide treat, closely followed by roast potatoes and cheese.
Mince pies just about made it into the top 10, landing in ninth place – trailing behind stuffing (7th) and gravy (6th). Cranberries, a staple condiment for a traditional Christmas dinner, only managed to secure 24th place, while mulled wine was hot on its heels in 25th.
Port didn’t fare too well either, coming in at a lowly 29th. In fact, a mere 6% of those under 24 admitted to enjoying a glass of port over the festive period, compared to 35% of those aged 65 and over. Brandy butter barely made the cut, scraping into the list in 30th place.

This research was commissioned by Doritos to celebrate the launch of their new Gingerbread flavour, which has been predicted as one of the top 10 trending Christmas flavours for 2025, alongside Walkers Emmental Cheese, Walkers Beef Wellington and Sensations Honey Glazed Roast Ham.
However, when it comes to the main event, 26% declared roast potatoes as the star of the show on the dinner plate – outshining turkey (23%) and pigs in blankets (17%).
That said, a third (33%) confessed they’d rather tuck into Christmas nibbles like cheese platters and pastry snacks, instead of a full-blown dinner. Interestingly, nearly half (46%) of Brits confessed to having a soft spot for festive flavoured crisps.
A whopping four in five (84%) agreed that food is one of the best aspects of Christmas – because it brings everyone together (58%).
Yet, more than half (51%) have been told to keep their hands off certain foods as they’re being saved for the big day.
Despite their warning, 43% have taken snacks and sneakily eaten them – with 41% discretely munching away in the kitchen. And a fifth (20%) admitted they would take their devious delicacies to their car.
The study conducted via OnePoll.com revealed 38% are excited about the prospect of trying new food over the holidays – spending an average of £124.91 on their yuletide sustenance.
