The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an initiative conceived by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Italian culinary traditions internationally, returns to Georgia. The Week will be celebrated in Georgia under the banner of Emilia-Romagna cuisine, constituting the third stage (after those dedicated to education and theater) of the promotional event of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Georgia, organized by the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi.
The embassy in collaboration with Ice-Ita, Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies, organized a series of events, including a gala dinner in ‘Dumas,’ one of the best restaurants in the Georgian capital: more than 120 guests, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, the business world and the world of culture, will have the opportunity to enjoy a special menu, based on Italian tradition, enriched by fine ingredients and wines and prepared by Stefano Scarso, joined by Almos Galeotti and Daniela Antoniotti, Italian chefs, designed by Alma International School of Italian Cuisine.
Enriching the evening even more will be pieces of classical music performed by the extraordinary Georgian singers, Iano Tamar (Alibegashvili), one of the best dramatic soprano voices, tenor Otar Jorjikia, and pianist Nika Nikvashvili.
“Cuisine is a collective language that expresses identity, territories, traditions and skills of a nation. Our country’s cuisine is synonymous not only with excellence, quality and inimitable taste, but also with health and sustainability,” explains Ambassador Massimiliano D’Antuono, “To celebrate the tenth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, we have brought to Georgia the flavors and aromas of one of the most appreciated and well-known regional cuisines in the world, that of the Region of Emilia-Romagna, which boasts a long and very rich wine and food tradition, the highest quality of ingredients and a passion for food.”
The celebrations will then continue with a very special event, conceived and implemented by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with What About Georgia, a company that organizes large, high-level entertainment events. On November 21-22, the multifunctional space of Factory Tbilisi will host the Italian Food and Music Festival, a combination of excellent cuisine and entertainment with music: more than 20 stands of Italian delicacies, a true showcase of national gastronomic excellence, with a rich variety of food products, from pasta to coffee, from baked goods to ice cream and tiramisu. The tasting of delicacies will then continue with several cooking masterclasses with preparation of Italian specialties and will end with the performance of some of Italy’s most successful DJs.
