After reading a lot comments in here thinking about getting the whynter ice cream maker. What’s the best version of this?

How is this one from Costco it’s 280? This one had a thread and got good reviews. What’s the deal with the compressor people said to get one with that, does this one have that?

    Yes – it’s a compressor machine – that is, it cools itself, you don’t have to put a canister in the freezer ahead of time.

    I got the upright version (https://shopwhynter.com/products/icm-201sb) a few months ago and love it. The advantage for me was that the footprint made it easier to fit into my NYC apartment.

    I have a 1.5 quart Whynter model and love it so much I upgraded to a 2.5 quart size. The larger one has variable speeds so I can make gelato (churned at a slower speed). Also has the yogurt-making function but I haven’t tried it yet. The Costco version sounds like a great deal for a great price.
