Two new restaurants in the neighborhood have been anointed by the Michelin Guide: Huso from Top Chef Buddha Lo, who took over the former Roc space on Greenwich and Duane, and Muku, the latest omakase iteration for the team at l’abeille on Greenwich and Laight, both received one star. For Muku, which just opened on September 10, this was the fastest Michelin star ever awarded in New York City.

“Like before, the entrance is a caviar shop and further in, find a restaurant that is fully realized with all the bells and whistles,” Michelin authors wrote. “Flowing white drapes, big windows and generously spaced tables cut an elegant, sophisticated figure in cool TriBeCa. Refined and polished, the tasting menu deploys caviar in a sensible manner alongside a host of finely calibrated sauces.”

And for Muku, helmed by chef Manabu Asanuma, they wrote: “Newly Starred Muku, an intimate spot with counter seats for around ten, is an ambitious restaurant that punches above its weight. The kaiseki-inspired menu highlights goho, or the Japanese rule of five, featuring five distinct cooking techniques from raw and grilled to simmered, steamed and fried. Seasonality is paramount, and these meticulous dishes showcase an impressive mastery of flavors.”
