KIHEI (HawaiiNewsNow) – An award-winning singer-songwriter stopped by a popular local shave ice shop while vacationing on Maui.
Ululani’s Shave Ice in Kihei shared a photo of Jon Batiste picking up a frozen treat this week.
Among his many accomplishments, the Grammy Award-winner served as bandleader on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” for several years, and co-composed the score for the Pixar-animated film “Soul.”
The shop says he originally ordered bubble gum with li hing mui drizzle.
After a recommendation from an Ululani’s manager, Batiste tried mango, calamansi, and guava topped with haupia cream and house-made mochi.
His favorite of them all, the calamansi, a citrus fruit that is native to the Philippines.
