If you think, you’re doing bad at your job, just remember that people made this list and thought “this is good, let’s publish this”

Quick summary of this list: Burgundy didn’t got included, cause they didn’t care to pay and vineyard and wine estate is now the same thing.

If you look at their selection criteria, it’s really just a tourism thing rather than an actual vineyard thing.

It’s an absolute mess, who is it by? What are the criteria?Â
Wine is so subjective ranking it like this is just meaninglessÂ

This is terrible. Should have named the list, 50 best vineyards to visit etc.

What’s the criteria? If it was best wine tourism place, that’s subjective anyway and influenced by PR. I have been to a few (shout out to Henschke which was super friendly) and don’t have a big problem with this list. Except Viña Cobos, wine was great, experience sucked. And yeah if you’re Burg above all you’ll think this list sucks.

I do love Garzon, Montes, and Yquem though …

Copying the world’s 50 best bars template.

These lists are always subjective and I give them no credence.
However, I find it odd that although it was announced at an awards ceremony in Margaret River, Western Australia (WA), no WA wineries are on the list. Margaret River has some great wineries too, like Leeuwin Estate and Cullens, but only Henschke makes the cut down under.

Everything that is wrong with the industry in one top50.

As many of you said, this is 50 best wineries estates to visit not 50 best vineyards. This is supposed to be a tourism guide and to be honest with you perhaps it is good – not for me to say given this is a list of carefully planned list of tours and tastings at each estate, something which I tend to avoid, prefer smaller visits and chance to talk to actual winemakers. However, I imagine for a non-wine person this list might actually be helpful, especially at a stage of your wine journey when your wine taste is still being defined and marketing and gimmicks might have more effect.

Well if the glyphosate, monocultured machine managed Cloudy Bay got in… who didn’t?!
