Hey everyone. I received a Traeger Ironwood 650 for free from a family member. As you can tell, it hasn’t been well kept. Mold spots on the lid and throughout the insides. Are there any recommended deep cleaning guides out there for something like this? I’m really hoping this is salvageable. Would appreciate any and all tips!!

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

    It looks pretty good actually.

Id vac out both sides of the auger.. to get any loose crud, If you want too Dawn powerwash and hot water and mop it up. Let the PW sit a while and hit it again and almost anything there will wipe off. Don’t get water in the burn pot.

If your handy you could pull the pellet tray and auger apart, I don’t like doing that.

I would run it at 425 for an hour and there should be nothing alive inside there after that. I use a wet vac to suck out the auger almost every time. Doing a burn in will let you know if its working well. Use new pellets of course.

I like to take the shroud off that wraps around the firepot and auger, all kinds of stuff gets underneath. 4 screws, easy to get in and out

Yeah looks all good just a metal putty knife is what i use for the deep cleaning. Vacuum out and i use a degreaser on some of the parts for sure but once clean as can get just burn it off is all.

Put it together turn it on max for 1h, then take it apart vaccume it all out. Then wire bursh scub the sides, i also use a paint scraper to scrape the side walls and rails. Make sure you clean the lid scrub it good and all insides. Then put it back together l, smoke it again for 1h take it back apart and repeat process then ya done and she is good to go
